Happy National Cancer Survivor Day, everyone! My mother is a 2 year Stage IV Colon Cancer survivor and I feel blessed and thankful that I get to celebrate this special day. I urge you to take a moment out of your day to appreciate all of people in your life that were able to overcome their battle with cancer (or any other type of disease). Give them a hug and tell them you love them!
This photograph of my mother and I was taken a month after she was declared cancer free! We are standing in front of the Joan Karnell Cancer Center, which is the medical center that helped save her life. Whenever I walk through Washington Square Park, I always look up at the window that she used to look out of when she was getting her chemo treatments and give a prayer of gratitude.
